How we rate domains
The Mainline Domains Quality Rating is our internal evaluation designed to make it easier to compare the overall strength and usability of domain names.
Each domain is evaluated on a 100-point framework and translated to a 1–10 Quality Rating. We consider brandability (25 points), memorability (20), commercial potential (20), clarity and usability (15), market and search demand (10), and scarcity/domain quality (10).
Public rating levels
- 10.0 — Exceptional
- 9.5 — Outstanding
- 9.0 — Premium
- 8.5 — Excellent
- 8.0 — Strong
- 7.5 — Very Good
We display the Quality Rated badge only on domains rated 7.5 or higher.
What the rating is — and is not
The rating is a proprietary Mainline Domains merchandising and evaluation tool. It is not an independent appraisal, a promise of resale value, or a guarantee of traffic, rankings, revenue, search volume, trademark availability, or future business performance. Purchase prices are established separately and may reflect additional considerations.
Why we use it
Domain value can be subjective. A consistent framework helps us evaluate names by the same core criteria and gives buyers another useful signal when comparing opportunities.
